Welcome To St Leonard's

Our church is a place for your spirit to find rest and inner peace  "... And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love." Romans 8:38 [New Living Translation]

27th September 2025 - 9:00 AM

We’ll be celebrating a very special moment in the life of our church: the Licensing of Rev Wim Mauritz as Priest in Charge. This isn’t just a formal service (though there will be plenty of lovely tradition and ceremony) — it’s also a chance for us as a community to welcome Wim officially, show our support, and look forward with excitement to the new chapter ahead. It promises to be a joyful and memorable occasion, filled with hope, gratitude, and plenty of fellowship. Everyone is warmly invited to come along, share in the celebration, and be part of this important day in the story of our parish.

St Leonard's is Turners Hill Parish Church.  A church is more than bricks and mortar. It is a community of people who, together, live in relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  St Leonard's church maybe located on the western fringe of our village but is at the heart of our community.

Here at St Leonard’s, Jesus is recognised as the true and present leader of the church. His guidance comes through the Bible, prayer, and godly leaders. By becoming human and joining with His people, Jesus continues to nurture, protect, and mature His church.

The Bible is central to St Leonard’s because Jesus Himself loved it and used it to reveal who He is. Therefore, the church submits to it as the final authority, aiming to interpret it faithfully and allow it to shape all aspects of life and worship.

Prayer is essential, expressing the church’s dependence on God, and over time, their best work has come through united prayer. Leadership also plays a role, not as infallible authorities, but as examples and shepherds under Christ.

St Leonard’s values adaptability in method but not in message. The gospel is the unchanging foundation, and everything else is held loosely if it doesn’t serve the gospel. The church must avoid replacing it with moralism or cultural preferences, and always be oriented outward to the world, not inward.

Church is a team, not a personal project. In a culture focused on individual dreams, St Leonard’s seeks to love and prioritise the church as Jesus does - serving one another, using gifts, and committing to community life, even when it’s hard.

Finally, life with Jesus is not dull religion but an adventurous, Spirit-filled journey. God’s nearness, answers to prayer, and power to change lives are real and expected. The church exists not just to know about God, but to love, worship, and follow Him into a life of purpose and joy.

Our church belongs to everyone in our village.  As such all who live within the parish are entitled to be baptised, married or buried in St Leonard's.
